Which Amla to Choose? Powder, Juice or Capsules: A Buying Guide

How do you read an amla label?

  • Powder color: green to light beige, never brown or dull — a dark powder has lost much of its vitamin C and aroma.
  • Juice ingredient list: look for "100% amla juice" with no added sugar and no heavy dilution; a very cheap juice is often a very diluted one.
  • Stated origin: quality amla traditionally comes from India, where Phyllanthus emblica grows.
  • Certificate of analysis (COA) ruling out heavy metals — a real concern for imported powders. Third-party testing and GMP manufacturing are the marks of a serious supplier; USDA Organic certification is a plus for powders.
