Description
Ginger and turmeric tea on a winter evening: the water is just off the boil, you pour it into the iron, and the pot stays warm to the touch through the whole meal. That is the point of cast iron: heavy and dense, it gives back heat slowly.
Why you will like it
- 800 ml, three to four cups
- Traditional hobnail cast iron, cord-wrapped handle
- Black, olive green or red
The mistake that makes it rust: leaving water in it, putting it in the dishwasher or scrubbing it with detergent. Empty it after use, rinse with hot water only and let it dry with the lid off, perhaps a few seconds over a very low flame. It weighs about 1.4 kg, so pour holding both handle and lid. The supplier does not say whether it can go on the hob; we suggest pouring in water that is already hot.
Delivered in 8 to 15 working days with tracking, free from €39; 14-day right of withdrawal; identified seller (Clem corp, admin@tech-bharat.com).

Frequently asked questions
Why does my cast iron teapot rust?
Almost always because it was left damp: empty it, rinse without detergent and let it dry open. A rust spot comes off with a soft brush.
Can it go on the hob?
The supplier does not say, so pour in water heated in a kettle.
