Description
Half past six, the floorboards are cold and hard. You roll out the mat and feel the difference the moment you come onto all fours: eight millimetres of foam between your knees and the floor. The sun salutation sequence in our guide flows without your joints complaining.

NBR (nitrile rubber) foam is soft and cushioning, thicker than a “thin” 4 to 6 mm yoga mat. That is a plus on the floor and for beginners; the trade-off is slightly less stability in one-legged balances than on a thin, firm mat. If your practice is mostly dynamic and standing, look at our 6 mm TPE mat instead.
Wipe it with a damp cloth and a little mild soap, then let it dry flat. A faint new-foam smell on arrival is normal: leave it unrolled near a window for a few hours.

Does it work for standing poses?
Yes, although a thick mat is a little less stable for one-legged balances. People mostly choose it for floor work, sensitive knees and relaxation.
Does it smell?
Like any new foam it can smell new when unpacked. Leave it unrolled for a few hours and it fades.
