Description

Evening, twenty minutes of moon salutation before dinner: slow poses, standing then down on the floor. For that kind of practice you want a mat that does not squash under your standing foot but stays kind to your knees. 6 mm TPE is that middle ground.

TPE (thermoplastic elastomer) is lighter than natural rubber and does not have its strong smell. The textured surface grips a dry hand; as with any synthetic mat, very sweaty palms may slip at the end of an intense session, and a towel on top solves that.

Clean it with a damp cloth, no solvents, and do not leave it in full sun behind a window, which ages every foam.

TPE or NBR?

6 mm TPE is firmer and steadier for balances; 8 mm NBR is softer for floor work. Choose by how much of your practice is standing versus on the floor.

Is it slippery?

The textured surface grips a dry hand well. If you sweat a lot, lay a yoga towel on top.
