Ritucharya: Living Ayurveda Through the Seasons, With a One-Week Transition to Do at Home
Ayurveda doesn’t eat the same way in January and in July, and it doesn’t switch seasons overnight. This guide adapts ritucharya to a temperate climate, season by season, and offers a simple transition week — no fasting, no purging — to do at home at each change of season.

Day 3 to day 5 — The heart of the week: kitchari
For three days, kitchari becomes the main dish of all three meals, served with cooked seasonal vegetables. This is what tradition calls a gentle mono-diet: not eating less, but eating simply, so that digestion can rest.
| Meal | What you eat | How much |
|---|---|---|
| Morning | Looser kitchari, or spiced cream of rice if kitchari doesn’t appeal in the morning | One bowl, to your hunger |
| Lunch | Thick kitchari, cooked seasonal vegetables, a drizzle of ghee, a little fresh coriander | The most generous of the day |
| Evening (before 7:30 pm) | Light kitchari or mung soup | One bowl |
| Between meals | Warm cumin-coriander-fennel tea, hot water | As much as you like |

Frequently asked questions
Is the transition week a fast?
No. You eat three real meals a day, warm and simple, with kitchari at the centre. There is no fasting, no purging, no enema and no supplement: those practices belong in a medical setting.
When in the year should I start?
As any change of season approaches, ideally in the two weeks around it. The guide gives benchmark dates for a temperate northern-hemisphere climate.
Does the guide work in the southern hemisphere?
Yes, by reversing the seasons; the seasonal foods listed are those of temperate Europe and North America, to adapt to your local market.
What format is the guide?
A private web page laid out for A4 printing: in any browser, the “Save as PDF” button opens the print dialog, where you choose “Save as PDF”. You keep a PDF on your computer or phone and can print it.
How do I access the guide after paying?
Instantly: after payment, Stripe sends you back to your guide’s page. Stripe also emails you a receipt. If you lose the link, email us from the address on the receipt.
What if the guide isn’t right for me?
Email admin@tech-bharat.com within 14 days and we’ll refund you in full, no questions asked.
Does the guide replace a practitioner or a doctor?
No. It is a guide to wellbeing and cooking practices inspired by the Ayurvedic tradition. For any symptom, treatment or particular situation (pregnancy, illness), see a doctor.
